City Center Hotel - Attractions

Place Rogier
The Progress Hotel is located at Place Rogier in downtown Brussels. Many hotels, offices and shops are located at this junction. Place Rogier is a central Brussel's node for the Metro, trams and bus lines.

Rue Neuve
The central shopping street of Brussels is just across the street from Place Rogier and the Hotel.

Grand Place and Historic Center
The Grand Place or Grote Markt in French is the historic central market square of Brussels. It is surrounded by guild houses, the city's Town Hall said to be one of the most beautiful square in the world. This wonderful esplanade is surrounded by Flemish Renaissance-baroque guild houses from the 17th century, the neo-Gothic King's House, and the 15th-century Gothic Town Hall. The 91m (300-ft.) tower of the Town Hall bears a spire, on which perches the Archangel Michael, patron saint of the city. It is about a 15 minute walk from the Progress Hotel. Manneken Pis
Just by the the Grand Place is this famous Brussels bronze fountain sculpture of a naked little boy urinating into the fountain's basin.

North Station
Just a 5 minute walk from hotel is Bruxelles-Nord / Brussel-Noord (Brussels North) one of the three major railway stations in Brussels and the closest one to the Progress Hotel. The other 2 are Brussels Central and Brussels South. Almost all domestic and international trains stop at the station (except thalys and Eurostar although the station has frequent connections to Brussels Thalys and Eurostar stations).
Brussels North is also an important hub of the city's metro, bus and trams lines serving as the base for many regional and international bus lines which depart from the North Station.

Central Station
The Central Station is one of the three major railway stations in Brussels along with North South (Midi) Station and is about a 15 minute walk from the Hotel.

Brussels Airport
Trains run regularly to and from Brussels Airport making the Progress Hotel a convenient hotel for overnight stays in Brussels.

EU District
The European Union District is a short taxi ride from the Hotel and also easily accessable by public transporatation stopping at Place Rogier.

Downtown Brussels hosts an impressive selection of museums including one of the world's largest and best art museum complexes displaying approximately twenty thousand paintings, sculptures and drawings. The complex consists of the Ancient Art Museum (XV - XVII century), the Modern Art Museum (XIX ֲ­ XX century), the Wiertz Museum and the Meunier Museum.

The Bourse
After the Grand Place, The Bourse is the second most important square in Brussels. It is a 10 minute walk from hotel.

The Sablon
One of the most prestigious and attractive areas in Brussels dating back to the 16th century. In recent years it has become the center of the antiques shops and art galleries surrounded by cafes, restaurants and bars. Place du Grand Sablon (The Sablon square) is also renowned for its weekend antique market held on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sundays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Sablon is about 25 minute walk from the Hotel taking you through historic Brussels.
